This Person's Perspective (2024)
This collection of 12 works was an opportunity for me to finally make sense of my surroundings after being involved in a traumatic motorcycle wreck a few years ago. These images evoke a sense of ostracization while offering an heir of warmth and vibrance, indicating my struggle to find comfort in feeling misplaced.
These pieces were sold at a charity auction in Henderson, NC at the Henderson Arts Festival Oct 2024. All proceeds were donated to Lifeline Outreach.
The Small Town Series
(2024)
The idea for this series occurred to me because of my fascination with history and antiquity. As a society, we have access to countless historical artworks which give us insight into personal lives from thousands of years ago, and I wanted to be a part of that.
Although it can be difficult to find beauty in the world today, I felt it was important to document my manmade and plastic surroundings as they are. These illustrative acrylic works attempt to depict moments from modern life plainly before they are whisked away.
These works were sold in 2024 at the Well-Rooted Artist in Clarksville, VA.
People of Richmond
(2016)
Just after graduating high school in 2015, I moved to Richmond, VA at age 17. After coming from a rural area, it was new and exciting for me to meet different people in the street every day. Inviting community into my works and getting to know all these people allowed me to capture the vibrance of their personalities on canvas.
These paintings and drawings comprised a solo show in 2016 at Uptown Gallery on Main St. in Richmond, VA
In Good Company
(2015)
This series is about feeling at home while away from home. The focus is on an empty but lived-in space, with traces left behind by an absent inhabitant. These works further explore this juxtaposition by highlighting complementary colors along with highly-contrasting lights and darks.
While the mood of these works is quiet and peaceful, the compositions showcase extreme angular abstraction, giving the viewer a sense of quiet intrusion.
This series was part of an AP Portfolio concentration for my senior year of high school.
Tribe
(2014)
This collection of works showcases multiple different perspectives of the same situation, stirring a sense of sonder and highlighting the miniscule nature of the self.
These paintings further emphasize this shared individuality by enveloping the subject matter in a vast span of darkness, occasionally highlighting specks of detail illuminated faintly by the flames at the gathering's core.
These works were part of an AP Portfolio concentration for my junior year of high school.
